About the role

The role of the Recovery Coach is to provide support to people with a mental health/psychosocial disability diagnosis to increase their independence, take more control of their lives and to better manage their complex challenges of day-to-day living.

Aligning with an individuals’ NDIS Plan, you will assist the participant in accessing a range of supports that suits their needs and improving their health, well-being and participation within the community. Working closely with families, carers and other services you will design, plan and implement a recovery plan that sets capabilities that support people to recognise and take responsibility for their own recovery and wellbeing, defining their goals and aspirations.

You will have a lived experience of mental health or a strong history in working with people with serious and persistent mental health conditions, have the drive to support capacity-building activities for the people you support, a compassionate and collaborative approach to their work, and enjoy finding innovative solutions to complex situations.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work/Community Services and/or relevant experience in mental health related peer work.
  • Effective and professional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong time management and administrative skills.
  • Working knowledge of Mental Health Recovery Principles and application of Recovery Orientated Practice, including understanding of psychosocial disability and recovery, trauma-informed practice, supported decision making and family inclusive practice.
  • Current drivers’ licence

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Check and Disability Services Employment Screening or NDIS Check.
