About the Role

We have an exciting new opportunity to join the LWB team providing a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Psychological Service across the Perth Metro area. This program provides psychological treatment services for Individuals (and their families) from a CALD background with, or at risk of, mental disorders. The primary focus is psychological treatment for mild-to-moderate mental health conditions with a secondary focus on short-term psychological interventions and providing assistance for people with Severe Mental Illness to access appropriate services.

The role of Psychologist is to provide structured psychological treatment services to individuals and their families from CALD backgrounds that are evidence based and in culturally appropriate and sensitive methods.   

This is a 12 month max term, full-time position with a tool-of-trade vehicle included. There will be three office locations including, Leederville, Cannington and Mirrabooka.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure delivery of program services in accordance with the program contract, including a stepped care approach offering psychological treatments (interventions and support), underpinned by shared decision making and individual needs.
  • Implement evidence based practice through providing expert knowledge and support to achieve optimal outcomes for individuals from CALD backgrounds following a Person-centred approach which is sensitive to local contexts and their cultural needs.
  • Undertake Office/Centre based face to face consultations and outreach sessions/consultations that take place in an environment that is suitable for the individual.
  • Provide structured, measurement based, relevant and timely feedback to the individuals primary care provider and/or referring practitioner along the course of care.
  • Maintain booking and database systems in alignment with legislative, Life Without Barriers and contractual; and do so in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Identify and manage complex risks and issues arising in the course of service delivery
  • Maintain up to date, accurate and comprehensive documentation in accordance with legislation, standards and internal policy.
  • Assist the Senior Practitioner in the development of stakeholder relationships with a strong focus on relationships with GP’s, create partnerships with the local CALD community and other service providers.
  • Participate in team meetings, reflective practice sessions, reviews and case consultations, to support a shared language and shared understanding of best practice.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant degree qualification in Psychology and full registration with AHPRA (candidates with Provisional Registration will be considered).
  • Experience working and communicating with, or facilitating communication for, people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and an understanding of challenges and barriers faced by the CaLD community.
  • Experience in undertaking Psychological testing, assessments, delivering psychological interventions and managing a case load with a broad range of presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a client caseload, competing priorities, managing time and delivering outcomes within set time frames and quality and clinical governance standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the provision of evidence informed clinical practice
  • Working knowledge of the relevant legislative, regulatory, professional and ethical environment and requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build and maintain professional relationships with external stakeholders (including GPs, medical and Allied Health Professionals) and/or funding bodies and government agencies.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to consider strategic implications of actions and decisions. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, interpersonal skills, computer proficiency and use of client information management systems.
  • Drivers Licence
  • Ability to communicate Bilingually (desirable)

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
