About the Role

We have an exciting new opportunity to join the LWB team providing a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Psychological Service across the Perth Metro area. This program provides psychological treatment services for Individuals (and their families) from a CALD background with, or at risk of, mental distress. The programme will provide short term interventions for mild-to-moderate mental health conditions and assist clients with Severe Mental Illness to access appropriate services.

The role of Psychologist is to provide structured, evidence based psychological treatment services to individuals and their families in culturally appropriate and sensitive modalities. The programme is based in Leederville, with locations in Cannington and Mirrabooka, therefore travel to various locations in the metro area is part of the role. Working outside normal hours or on roster may be required at times. 

This is a full-time or part time position on contract to June 2022 with a renewal prospect, offering an attractive salary package that includes a vehicle and other benefits.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Implement evidence-based practice through providing expert knowledge and support to achieve optimal outcomes for individuals from CALD backgrounds following a person-centred approach which is sensitive to local contexts and their cultural needs. Identify and manage clinical risks and provide timely feedback to referrers.
  • Maintain booking, client record, document and database systems in alignment with legislative and professional standards and internal policies in a timely and accurate manner meeting legislative, professional and contractual obligations.
  • Assist the Senior Practitioner in the development of stakeholder relationships with a strong focus on relationships with GP’s, create partnerships with the local CALD community and other service providers.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant degree qualification in Psychology and
  • Full registration with AHPRA (candidates with Provisional Registration will be considered).
  • Drivers Licence
  • Ability to communicate Bilingually (desirable)
  • Experience working and communicating with, or facilitating communication for, people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and an understanding of challenges and barriers faced by the CaLD community.
  • Experience in undertaking Psychological testing, assessments, delivering psychological interventions and managing a case load with a broad range of presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a client caseload, competing priorities, managing time and delivering outcomes within set time frames and quality and clinical governance standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the provision of evidence informed clinical practice
  • Working knowledge of the relevant legislative, regulatory, professional and ethical environment and requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build and maintain professional relationships with external stakeholders (including GPs, medical and Allied Health Professionals) and/or funding bodies and government agencies.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to consider strategic implications of actions and decisions. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, interpersonal skills, computer proficiency and use of client information management systems.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
