About the role

As a Provisional Behaviour Support Practitioner with the support and guidance of the Senior Practitioner and specialist team you will be responsible for assessing, designing, evaluating and monitoring behaviour support plans and interventions for individuals accessing Life Without Barriers programs.

We are seeking Tertiary qualified candidates with demonstrated experience in Behaviour Support assessment and subsequent design, development and implementation of Behaviour Support plans which meets the requirements of the NDIS. Registration with AHPRA or relevant professional body (desired but not essential).

To be successful in this role you will possess a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of current Victorian legislative requirements regarding restrictive practices and will be working with house support teams to ensure these are implemented and reported on accordingly. Together with the specialist behaviour support team you will be involved in providing training and coaching to staff regarding strategies for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Senior Practitioner you will provide evidence-based treatment and clinical knowledge expertise and support to clients and their key support network in a range of Life without Barriers Victorian Disability Accommodation Services
  • Plan, undertake and complete functional behaviour assessments (including data collation and analysis) of risk and behaviours of concern for clients within the VDAS program.
  • Formulate, implement and monitor comprehensive behaviour support plans to manage behaviours of concern exhibited by people with complex needs including disability, dual diagnosis and mental ill health
  • Provide Behaviour Support services that are timely, efficient and effective, ensuring they meet the goals identified by the client and their families/carers and are provided within available resources
  • Work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including peers, employees, external organisations, funding bodies and government agencies to deliver outcomes within agreed time-frames and quality standards

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Behavioural Sciences / Applied Behavioural Analysis, Human Services, Social Sciences WITH 
  • A demonstrated understanding of the process of completing functional behavioural assessments and developing behaviour support plans
  • Practical understanding of positive behaviour support approach and demonstrated understanding of the NDIS Commission Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices requirements
  • Sound understanding in PCAS and PBS.
  • A working knowledge of the Safeguarding requirements of the National Disability Insurance Agency
  • Good interpersonal skills and strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Practical problem-solving skills

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
