Next Step Plus (NSP)  is a newly funded program focused on preparing young people from the age of 15 who are in care, to develop the skills and knowledge they need to live as an independent adult and to ensure those who have left care are able to receive  additional support and services if required.

In this role you will have the opportunity to further your experience and make a real difference!

You will be a part of a dedicated team providing a localised and collaborative approach engaging and supporting young people from the age of 15 years and ensuring those who have left care are able to receive additional support and services if needed until they are 25.

About the Role

Please note: This is a Full Time Maximum Term Contact ending in 31 June 2022. 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Program Manager to join our Next Step Plus in a leadership position. The Program Manager oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of the Next Step Plus Program.

This position would suit someone who is passionate about supporting young people (“walking with them”), identifying their goals, strengths and aspirations and assisting in achieving these goals and transitioning to independent adult life.

This position can be based in either Milton, Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Mackay. 

Due to COVID-19 we are currently working a combination of at home and in the office until further notice. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, motivate and manage a team of Case Managers, Senior Youth Workers & Program Assistants 
  • Manage the NSP program compliant with legislation, standards, contractual requirements and internal policy
  • Ensure delivery of program services in accordance with program budget, local business plans and in line with client needs and plans
  • Develop, lead, motivate and manage a team
  • Ensure a consistent standard of quality is delivered for program in accordance with regulations prescribed in relevant legislation and funding agency standards
  • Manage risks and issues arising during service management

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a similar program
  • Degree qualification in Human Services or related discipline
  • A demonstrated commitment to the care and protection of clients
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership and management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage services and programs within a budget
  • Current Drivers Licence

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
