About the Role

The Program Assistant will be a central support to the Program Manager and the #iConnect and #Synergy mental health teams, who work with young people with or at risk of severe and complex mental health illness, and their families, to assist them to make significant improvements to their mental health and wellbeing, and to achieve their goals. 

The Program Assistant will be responsible for supporting referral and intake processes, data reporting, client database management and provision of general administrative assistance. This is a part time role (approximately 22 hours/week) for a parental leave cover period, which will be at least six months, with the potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the delivery of programs that facilitate our customers' development of social networks and inclusion in community activities.
  • Build a positive team environment and provide role modelling and on the job support.
  • Provide administrative support to the business unit and in particular to the Manager.
  • Attend internal and external stakeholder meetings as appropriate or requested by the Coordinator or Manager.
  • Attend, participate and contribute to team meetings and supervision.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in the health or welfare field and/or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to use initiative and to work both individually in supporting customers and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain customer privacy and confidentiality.
  • Established problem solving and conflict management skills.
  • Strong written and computer skills for the creation of plans, programs, reports, correspondence and other documents.  Specifically, advanced excel capabilities will be required for this role.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Tasmania Working with Vulnerable People Registration
