About the Role

The Practice Lead - Family Based Care is a client centred role that works in partnership with corporate and local teams to improve client outcomes.

The incumbent supports and works within the framework of organisational program initiatives, manages a multi-disciplinary permanency support team and provides practice advice and support. The incumbent provides local leadership in the coordination and facilitation of quality and safeguarding systems and processes.

Due to an internal secondment, this position is being offered on full-time contract period of 12 months and is based at our office in Ipswich. However, due to COVID-19 we are currently working a combination of at home and in the office until further notice. A Tool of Trade vehicle (including fuel card) will also be allocated to the successful candidate. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and support to a multi-disciplinary team to deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and their families and carers
  • Guide and support the implementation of quality carer assessments, supervision, supports and reviews in accordance with LWB policy and practice models
  • Work co-operatively with Central Enquiry Team to ensure effective management of carer engagement, recruitment, supervision and support
  • Embed the CARE approach locally by leading a multi-disciplinary service delivery team to provide, monitor and promote quality practice and continuous improvement in service delivery

Skills & Experience

  • A tertiary qualification in social work, psychology or a relevant human service area
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated experience, skills and knowledge in child protection/out of home care services / family support and preservation
  • Demonstrated experience working with and using evidence informed practice models across multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in providing professional development through clinical supervision, training, coaching and monitoring
  • Experience working in a culturally sensitive manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and a willingness to work and train in culturally appropriate approaches

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
