About the role

Reporting to the Group Payroll Manager you will assist with driving change, projects, process improvements and implementing best practice across the payroll group.  You will support and lead various projects  and initiatives of LWB and provide subject matter expertise on all matters relating to Payroll legislation, award and contract interpretation, current group payroll practices, systems and system integrations.

This is a permanent full time position, location is flexible.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Drive change and process improvements across all Payroll related initiatives
  • Assist in managing projects relating to payroll services
  • Develop test scripts including, milestone and expected results to ensure all interactions of the test scenarios are taken into consideration
  • Manage functional issues through to completion within agreed timeframes
  • Execute testing and validate outcomes, work through testing errors with stakeholders to rectify either through system configuration changes or process improvement changes
  • Support Payroll Services to achieve the business plan outcomes and other organisational programs and initiatives
  • Monitor, coach, support, motivate and develop team members to enable them to deliver to the best of their ability
  • Play a lead role in the creation, documentation and maintenance of user guides and other training manuals 
  • Develop and maintain industry and organisational knowledge of matters relating to Payroll legislation and awards
  • Work with the Shared Services team to ensure the payroll knowledge, skills and experience aligns with services provided by the broader Shared Services team
  • Lead the development of systems that enable cross skilling and efficient utilisation
  • Lead the development and maintenance of accurate information for Shared Service and the broader organisation on SharePoint, the LWB intranet and reporting

 Skills & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, project management or related field
  • Demonstrated management experience in leading high performance teams and excellence in service delivery
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advice and support to management and / or staff on payroll and reporting related matters
  • Demonstrated of project and change management
  • Significant knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory environment for areas of business responsibility i.e. Superannuation, Workers Compensation, PAYG tax and other legislative agencies
  • Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including peers, employees, external organisations, funding bodies and government agencies
  • Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Experience with Aurion and or Kronos would be advantageous

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
