About the role

The NDIS Client Intake and Support Officer is the first point of contact for new customers purchasing services from Life Without Barriers within a regional disability service or locality.  You are responsible for coordinating the initial entry process for all NDIS customers enquiring about LWB services, to coordinate information and understanding of the needs of the customers and available services within LWB. This role is integral in supporting the NDIS end to end process in collaboration with operations to ensure customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work within the principles of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and relevant legislation
  • Keep customers at the centre of practice
  • Represent LWB; working proactively and positively with customers and stakeholders, including families, guardians, support coordinators and the NDIA
  • Work in partnership with the customer to understand their needs and expectations
  • Ensure new customers have information relating to LWB feedback and complaints processes
  • Work with customers and key staff to develop a Service Agreement that reflects customer needs and preferences
  • Provide weekly (or as directed) reports to the Operations Manager that includes new customer data, exits, trends and positive outcomes
  • Escalate any issues of concerns to the Operations Manager including risks to reputation, service limitations and complaints
  • Establish services within the parameters of relevant legislation, policy and procedure including HSE, IR and the National Disability Service Standards

Skills & Experience

Tertiary qualifications with a minimum of a Certificate IV in Disability, Mental Health or Community Services or equivalent demonstrated knowledge and experience

  • Current unrestrictive Australian driver’s license
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in working with people with a disability and their support networks
  • Demonstrated experience in managing competing priorities and to deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes and quality standards
  • Demonstrated experience working in a dynamic, high volume work environment
  • A sound understanding of person-centred thinking, the principles of the NDIS and the National Disability Service Standards

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
