About the role

The Intake Officer is responsible for supporting the Intake & Placement Coordinator in the coordination of placement matching for children and young people entering the Family Based Care program for Life Without Barriers. This is a full time maximum term contract to July 2022, this role can be located in anywhere in Greater Sydney.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Intake & Placement Coordinator in monitoring incoming Family Based Care DCJ/external placement referrals and internal placement referral requests within agreed timeframes. Track referrals and outcomes according to agreed internal record keeping requirements.
• Assist in ensuring that all necessary documentation is received and completed according to LWB policies and procedures
• Support the Intake & Placement Coordinator in obtaining all specific documentation required for Intake Placement Matching Panels.
• Be responsible for providing the Agenda and minutes for the Intake Placement Matching Panel and uploading relevant documents to carer and client CIRT files.
• Liaise with internal & external stakeholders and foster carers regarding possible placement referrals options and assist in identifying a suitable placement.
• Assist the Intake & Placement Coordinator in maintaining placement referral data by keeping it up to date and current.

Skills & Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in the welfare or related sector
• Demonstrated understanding of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act, 1998 and the Children’s Guardian Out of Home Care Standards.
• High level organisation and time management skills, which includes the ability to prioritise workload to meet changing demands.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build relationships quickly
• Current Drivers Licence

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
