About the role

Join our Ballina team as an Intake Officer on 3 month, part time basis. The Intake Officer is responsible for coordinating placement matching for emergency, planned moves, and respite placements for children and young people in Life Without Barriers care.

Part time hours are flexible, 2 options:

  • Two days - Wednesday 7.5 hours and Friday 7.5 Hours
  • Three shorter days – Tuesday 5 hours, Wednesday 5 hours and Friday 5 hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive initial requests from DCJ regarding a placement request, and ensure necessary documentation is received and completed according to LWB policies and procedures
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and foster carers regarding emergency and planned placements, to assist in identifying a suitable placement
  • Assist foster carers and internal stakeholders to locate suitable respite placements
  • Ensure documentation is completed for planned placement moves, compliance with all internal policy and procedures, statutory and contractual requirements and CIRTS database is up to date with all client information at an Intake level, from referral to entry
  • Apply and uphold principles of equity and anti-discrimination in the workplace and adhere to organisational and legislative Health, Safety and Environment requirements

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in the welfare or related sector
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act, 1998 and the Children’s Guardian Out of Home Care Standards
  • High level organisation and time management skills, which includes the ability to prioritise workload to meet changing demands
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build report quickly with a range of internal external stakeholders
  • Current Drivers Licence

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
