About the role

Manage a Residential Care Home with a wide range of responsibilities for managing the home including supervision and rostering of staff, managing program budgets and activities and establishment of a safe homelike environment.

This role works with other key Care Team members to lead the implementation of the CARE model and ensure the home provides a therapeutic environment which actively engages children and young people in activities and routines to support them to learn life skills including emotional regulation, problem solving and social competencies. The role is primarily based within the home environment.

The successful candidate for this position will be required to work in multiple sites across Brisbane including Alderley, Milton and Robertson.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and maintain meaningful and supportive relationships with children/young people and their families in order to promote positive outcomes
  • Develop purposeful person-centred plans such as Care Plans, Individual Client Management Plans, Risk Management Plans and Safety Plans
  • Create a safe and healing environment with a focus on assisting children/young people to build positive attachments, strengthen existing relationships and develop competencies
  • Mentor, supervise and roster a team of Youth Workers to provide an exceptional level of care
  • Liaise with the Care Team to coordinate and meet all daily individual care needs of children/young people
  • Oversee the liveability, homeliness and safety within the homes
  • Respond therapeutically to pain based behaviours such as aggression, withdrawal and self-injury
  • Incorporate a holistic, Care Team approach, ensuring close collaboration with external stakeholders including the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women
  • Facilitate essential connections, such as the connection to culture and country for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people

Essential 

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or relevant Diploma working towards a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Demonstrated ability to develop quality individual care plans
  • Highly developed analytical skills and the ability to apply these in case management
  • High level organisation and time management skills, which includes the ability to reorganise work priorities to meet changing demands
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals, families or groups from strengths based culturally appropriate perspective
  • The ability to function effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • High level communication, influencing, liaison, negotiation and mediation skills
  • Current driver licence
