About the Role

We are seeking Disability Support Workers who have previous experience supporting clients with disabilities and mental health issues who could display behaviours of concern.

We have multiple permanent part-time and casual positions available across our supported independent living services and clients living in the community in Port Augusta.

Working in a team, you will be actively supporting their individual complex needs by creating a safe environment and ensuring services are provided in a culturally appropriate way. 

It is expected that the successful candidate will be available and willing to work a 24/7 roster that includes regular shift work, including sleepovers, weekends and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assistance with clients daily living (including personal care)
  • Following individual support plans and behaviour support plans
  • Assisting Clients with Community access and transport
  • Documentation and progress note keeping
  • Assist individuals to engage in cultural activities and maintain cultural connection
  • Maintain high level of integrity and regard for professional boundaries, confidentiality and ability to maintain sensitive information including Aboriginal matters.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience working with and supporting people with disabilities and mental health issues
  • Previous experience working with clients who display behaviours of concern
  • Unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or similar
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • NDIS Orientation Module
  • Sound understanding and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and issues affecting Aboriginal people.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and DCSI Disability Employment
