About the role

We are looking for a Disability Support Worker with experience within a mental health and disability setting working with people who have a dual diagnosis. This is a casual position working with a female living in supported accommodation and it is important to our client that her support worker is patient and has an interest in sports.

Our client is located in Port Kennedy and there are both day and nightshifts (sleepovers). The contract is casual and there could be permanent opportunities if you have availability for regular shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support our clients to work towards achieving their individual aims
  • Support in day to day living, promoting cooking, housekeeping, hygiene, shopping, sports etc.
  • Liaise and collaborate with consumers, their community and community support agencies
  • Monitor and review client’s progress through the service and against the case plan
  • Utilise positive behaviour strategies
  • Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping

Skills & Experience

  • Unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence
  • Certificate III Community Services, Disability or similar or willingness to obtain
  • A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities and personal goals of people with disabilities & mental heath diagnosis
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate ('Provide First Aid' & 'CPR')
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate (online via NDIS Commission website)
  • NDIS Screening Check (online via NDIS Commission website)

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
