About the role

Our core business in Cairns is supporting clients who have complex behaviours to live as independently as possible with others or on their own in a proactive environment. 

We are seeking a values driven, positive and highly experienced Disability support Coordinator to lead and manage Disability residential support services (SIL arrangements) across Cairns. This is a permanent full-time position and will be based in our Manunda office.

The successful incumbent for this position will have strong content knowledge of NDIS, embracing the principles of customer choice and control and be able to supervise and lead teams to provide quality care and realise exceptional outcomes for people with a complex disability. They will be driven and self-motivated with the ability to prioritise tasks unsupervised and function within a high performing team

Key Responsibilities

  • Build high performing teams to ensure quality services, staff satisfaction and client outcomes.
  • Manage the Supported Independent Living (SIL) arrangements to be compliant with legislation, standards, contractual requirements and internal policy.
  • Ensure delivery of program services in accordance with program budget, local business plans and in line with client needs and plans.
  • Develop and maintain local operational and administrative systems and procedures to support the effective management of the program.
  • Ensure a consistent standard of quality is delivered for program in accordance with regulations prescribed in relevant legislation and funding agency standards.
  • Manage risks and issues arising in the course of service management.
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advise and consult with all relevant parties, including the Program Manager, Operations Managers and Regional Directors regarding complex and sensitive matters.
  • Support and promote the work of Life Without Barriers, maintaining a positive image of the organisation in accordance with level of position

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role)

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar Disability or related program.
  • Degree qualification in Human Services or related discipline.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the care and protection of clients.
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership and management.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/communication skills, including verbal, written and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage services and programs within a budget.
  • Demonstrated ability in time management and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds with specific reference to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use initiative, think laterally and strategically, to meet deadlines and produce quality work under pressure.
