We are currently looking to recruit a Disability Development & Support Officer (DDSO1/1Q) for the house team, situated in Doncaster East. In this role you will be responsible for providing support and information for people with disabilities, across their life cycle and in all domains of life, to enable access to a life of dignity, respect, and social inclusion in the least restrictive environment

You will be responsible for providing support with activities of daily living and developing, implementing, and monitoring Individual Plan’s including personal care.

In this role you will work to facilitate the delivery of quality services and achieve positive outcomes with and for the clients within the house. This role involves working with clients with various complex medical support needs and some behaviours of concern. This role will involve manual handling and meal assistance.

The house profile: The house services 5 clients with a range of health conditions and medical support needs as well as varying levels of independence.  Assistance and support are required with personal care, meal planning and preparation, domestic chores and community access. The residents enjoy a range of activities both within the house and in the community.

This is a part-time ongoing position, the roster details outlined as hours per fortnight are detailed below:

Roster:

  • Fortnight 1: 68:30
  • Fortnight 2: 62

This roster is all day and evening shifts going through from 6.30 am – to 9.00 pm including 2 weekends throughout the roster.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proven experience working in group homes with a strong client focus with genuine enthusiasm and imagination
  • Development of planned activities in line with LWB policies and guidelines
  • Ongoing consultation with family members, medical services, interdepartmental and external services to help meet client needs
  • Development, implementation, monitoring and review a range of client support plans, with oversight from senior staff, using knowledge of client need, preferences, and interests
  • Provision of quality direct support to clients in line with their support needs, the program they are accessing, and all support plans including Individual Plans
  • Administration of medication treatments and therapies according to prescribed protocols
  • Implementation of development programs including providing support for learning opportunities

Essential Qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in Disability or equivalent Disability related qualification
  • Current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate
  • Full unrestricted Victorian driver’s licence
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency is essential
  • A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities and personal goals of people with disabilities
  • The ability to develop a positive relationship with service users and to support their Individual Personal Plan
  • Ability to work autonomously and a drive to actively be involved and responsible for the tasks required daily
  • Experience working within a behavioural support framework
