About the Role

As a Domestic Assistance Worker/Cleaner at Life Without Barriers in Canberra, you will have the opportunity to support people within your community continue to remain living independently. You will be supporting our clients who live in their own homes and you will be required to travel throughout the day to complete your shifts.

If you have experience as a cleaner/housekeeper and are looking for more meaningful work, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. You will be rostered around your availability, with most shifts taking place between 7am-8pm Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Domestic duties which may include but are not limited to: vacuuming, mopping, washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, emptying bins, gardening duties, washing/ironing of linen and clothing
  • Preparation of meals and obtaining groceries on behalf of clients
  • Assisting clients in payment of bills and organising medical appointments
  • Be aware of safety issues and report hazards in the working environment including recording any changes in clients health or behaviours of concern

Skills & Experience Required

  • An unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence
  • A current First Aid Certificate
  • Your own reliable vehicle for work and a working smartphone to record essential client notes
  • Excellent organisational skills, hygiene practices and problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness to obtain a Certificate in Aged Care, Disability, or Individual Support
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships

Successful candidates will be required to clear relevant state-based probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and the ACT Working With Vulnerable People Card.
