About the Role

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced full-time Advanced Disability Support Worker for one of our small all-male group homes in Bundoora. This is a great opportunity to enter a front-line management role, offering a career pathway to build upon your qualifications and further your leadership and client management skills.

The role is responsible for 2IC support to the House Supervisor providing mentoring and guidance to staff and direct client support to a small all-male group of clients with high physical support needs and some behaviours of concern. Some experience working within a similar profile house with physical support/manual handling skills/medical care would be advantageous.

This is a full-time ongoing position and the roster line 79.30/72.30 is primarily days/evenings with no sleepover or active nights requirements with 2 weekends (F/S/S) per month.  

Key Responsibilities & Skills Required

As the successful new addition to the team, we need you to actively demonstrate previous successes working clients with high physical support needs and behaviours of concern. You will have proven experience in working in group homes and have a sound knowledge of relevant legislation as well as excellent skills in communicating effectively with a diverse group of key stakeholders as a leader, mentor and advocate for clients and staff alike. You must be a hands-on team player with positive behaviour support experience and leadership capabilities able to support the House Supervisor as a 2IC promote and provide best practice support to clients as well as supervision and mentoring of other team members.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management or equivalent Disability related qualification - candidates currently studying for this qualification may be considered depending upon experience.
  • Current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate
  • Full driver’s licence
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency is an essential pre-requisite
