We are seeking passionate, energetic and caring Youth Support Workers who truly love what they do. We have five fixed term, part time positions and casual positions on offer.

Own It - How we get the job done

At Tennant Creek, our Residential Service runs 24 hours per day, 7 days per week supporting a diverse range of young customers. These young people and children have a range of conditions including challenging behaviours, autism, attachment disorders, anxiety, depression, anger, aggression, post-traumatic stress and disengagement. We are seeking Support Workers who are resilient and have a sound understanding of the importance of supporting children and young people in line with our commitment to the Child Protection Act 1999.

As a Support Worker your responsibilities will include:

• Mentoring and skill development - guiding young people to develop independent living skills
• Being a positive role model and provide positive support in areas such as emotional behaviour, personal care and hygiene, transport, education, cooking and domestic duties
• Administering medication and adherence to support plans
• Completing clear, concise and factual handover notes and incident reports
• Managing complex and challenging behaviours (including aggressive behaviours)
• Helping young people to engage with their local communities and culture through access to Community Participation Programs and recreational activities

Make It Matter - What you will bring to make a difference in other's lives

• Demonstrated experience working with children and youth and/or people with a disability in an accommodation service or individual support
• A positive and solution focused approach as a team member
• Full unrestricted NT drivers licence
• First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
• Ochre Card
• National Criminal history check clearance
• Willingness and availability to work weekdays, weekends and public holidays
