The Role:

We are seeking applications from experienced, resourceful and committed individuals to join our accommodation service in Coffs Harbour on a casual basis. We provide support to customers who have had contact with, or are at risk of entering, the Criminal Justice System. Our team support customers with intellectual disability, cognitive deficit, personality disorder, or mild to serious mental illness to work towards living independently in the community.

We are looking for Support Workers who can provide positive encouragement, help to build and develop relationships within the community, encourage life skills and inspire confidence in those around you.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working with complex trauma backgrounds
  • Experience working with people who display difficult or challenging behaviours
  • Confidence and professionalism in your ability to provide customer focused support
  • Ability to build rapport with Community programs and services
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
  • To be able to remain calm in high crisis situations
  • Strong professional boundaries and the ability to follow procedures
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a complex environment as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Drivers Licence
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • PART Training will be advantageous, full training will provided to successful applicants
  • Certificate 3 or 4 in Youth Work, Welfare, Mental Health, Disability or Community Services (Highly desirable)
  • Knowledge of the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
  • Availability to work a 7 day roster which will be a combination of shifts including mornings, afternoons, sleep over shifts, weekends and public holidays
