We are seeking an energetic, compassionate and committed person or couple to join our team as a Live in Carer(s) for our Residential Care Services in Kununurra WA. In this role you will be providing 24 hour therapeutic trauma informed care supporting 4 young people with high levels of emotional and behavioural needs.

As the successful candidate, you will understand the importance of high quality person centered service meeting the needs of the Young People in Out Of Home Care and our responsibilities and work under the Children and Community Services Act 2004 and the Better Care and Better Service Standards.

Live In Carers in the Family Group Homes are strong positive role models and are responsible for the daily running of the Family Group Home in collaboration with the care team. The carer will provide therapeutic care of the Young People, positive emotional and behaviour support, health management, personal care, medication administration and incident management, transport, support in education and community access, meal preparation and domestic duties and the documentation of the progress of the Young People

The Live In Carer are responsible to help, guide and support the Children and Young People to develop independent living skills while ensuring all of their day to day care needs are being met. This includes the implementation of clear routines, structure and positive behaviour support practices and strategies.

The Live in Carer is part of a whole care team and is supported by the local Support Manager and a Clinical team on a regular basis.

Essential requirements

• Minimum of certificate 3 or 4 in Youth Work, Welfare, Community Services or relevant experience
• Experience providing direct care in Out Of Home Care services and/or disability based support services with Children and Young People
• Experience working with in a therapeutic care arrangement working with Children and Young People who have experienced complex trauma and challenging behaviours
• Good working knowledge of the Children and Community Services Act 2004
• Full driver’s license
• First Aid Certificate
• Working With Children Check
• Willing to undergo a national police check
• Be available, at reasonably short notice, to travel to Kununurra or Regional WA, Tennant Creek (NT) or similar to work for 1-3 weeks straight
• For the above, travel allowances may be negotiable
