Our organisation specialises in Out of Home Care (OOHC) Residential Service for Children and Young People (CYP) aged 0-12 years, we support the Children in this short term placement. The services runs 24hrs/7 days a week and the Coordinator will be responsible for the day to day operations of the residential programs in the Tennant Creek region.

We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, resilient, and trauma informed Coordinator to support the team and guide the Children in our care. We are looking for a Coordinator who understands the importance of high quality services with excellent time management skills, which meets the needs of the Children and Young People and our responsibilities under the Child Care and Protection Act.

The Coordinator is based in the house and present to be a strong positive role model who is responsible for a wide range of duties including; supervision and training of the support workers, roster development and implementation, ensuring high quality facilities and resources that are well maintained, incident management and support for staff, developing and supporting the team to implement and evaluate strategies to support early childhood development from a trauma-informed care approach, ensuring the day to day care needs are met for the Children and Young People we support and implement consistently by your teams in a safe and secure home environment, development and implementation of clear routines, structure and positive behaviour support practices and strategies. To also understand you will need to do shifts as a Support Worker to support the house and staff.

Essential requirements:

  • Experience managing a residential service and demonstrating good leadership skills
  • Experience managing and supporting teams in complex and challenging environments
  • Sound knowledge of the Child Care and Protection Act
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other services within the organisation and community
  • Sound practice and knowledge or significant experience in meeting the holistic needs of Children who have experienced significant trauma and/or a disability
  • Understanding the obstacles living in a remote area, cultural awareness and community knowledge
  • Most of all to have the passion and drive to help support Children to create positive outcomes in their lives
  • Experience working with Children and Young People who have experienced complex trauma backgrounds
  • Experience working with Children and Young People who display difficult or challenging behaviours
  • Ochre Card - WWCC NT
  • Police Check Clearance

Desirable:

  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social work, Early Child hood Education, Social Sciences, Behavioural Science, Psychology or similar field
