About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Carer Support Officer to join our friendly and high performing team located in Parkes on a Fixed Term Full Time basis. The purpose of this role is to provide effective support to Foster Carers within the region and to focus on outcomes for children and young people in Out of Home Care.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to;

• Assist with recruitment, assessment, training, advocacy and support of Foster Carers who will provide a high level of care to children and young people placed in Out of Home Care
• Develop Foster Carer training plans in consultation with Foster Carers
• Assist in placement matches of Foster Carers and children and young people
• Ensure Foster Carers are provided with regular and ongoing information regarding legislation and policy changes
• Undertake regular reviews and re-authorisation of Foster Carers, ensuring that the probity of all household members are up to date and meet legislative requirements
• Represent Lifestyle Solutions at forums, including community based functions and conferences
• Support learning opportunities for Foster Carers to develop knowledge and understanding of cultural backgrounds and perspectives and utilise this knowledge to inform practice and support of people
• Provide support that is aligned with the values of the organisation and creates an environment that is conducive to the delivery of quality support
• Identify contractual requirements and ensure all performance criteria are achieved and reported on
• Positively promote a culture of health, safety and wellness amongst Foster Carers

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for someone with a demonstrated understanding of the issues Foster Carers may face in supporting children and young people with challenging behaviours and/or disabilities. It is an incredibly rewarding and challenging role. We've found that those who succeed in this role have high levels of resilience, are compassionate and they're fantastic listeners! We need you to be approachable and an outstanding team player. In order to complete Foster Carer assessments and reviews, you will be required to travel within the area as part of this role, therefore a drivers licence and the flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends is required.

In addition, we require:

• Previous experience supporting Foster Carers with involvement in recruitment, training, coaching, assessing and advocating
• Knowledge and understanding of Equal Employment Opportunity, Ethical Practice, Cultural Diversity and Occupational Health and Safety as they relate to this role
• Full NSW Drivers licence
