In delivering the national DV-alert service Lifeline is working to train front line workers to recognise, respond and refer when engaging with people at risk of, or experiencing family and domestic violence.

About the DV-alert Assessor and Student Support Role:

This is an opportunity to join the DV-alert Team in a role which supports students in completing self-paced online eLearning coursework. The role is a set term contract until 30th June 2022.

The DV-alert Assessor and Student Support role’s purpose is to provide individual and group facilitation and learning support for students enrolled in DV-alert eLearning courses. The role also involves assessing student submissions against nationally recognised units of competency, on behalf of Lifeline Australia, the Registered Training Organisation.

Within the virtual learning environment, the Assessor and Student Support role will support student progression through communicating with students predominantly by email and on occasion via video-call or phone. The role will work closely with subject matter experts to initiate and facilitate live webinars, post commentary, share resources, course materials or lecture notes, facilitate and provide stewardship of forums and blogs.

Role responsibilities:

This position involves the management of DV-alert eLearning courses, providing end to end support for students completing these courses. It includes:

  • Regularly reviewing student progress and offering assistance as required
  • Assessing accredited modules completed by students and providing constructive feedback and coaching to students
  • Responding to student questions or queries related to the course and content
  • Being proficient in the use of Moodle to address student queries
  • Monitoring the DV-alert student online forum, providing support and answering student questions
  • Analysing Moodle system reports to monitor student progress and communicate regularly to encourage continuing participation in the courses
  • Initiating, managing and facilitating webinars for students
  • Reviewing resources for currency and relevance as part of a continuous improvement process by suggesting program or curriculum improvements and reporting these to the DV-alert Assessor and Student Support Lead
  • Triaging technical or connectivity issues prior to escalation as appropriate
  • Maintaining required records
  • Creating a climate of respect and acceptance

Must haves:

  • Tertiary qualification in allied health, community services or related discipline (essential)
  • TAE40116 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent (essential)
  • Experience working in the community sector or with people affected by domestic and family violence and be able to map to CHCDFV001 – Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence (essential)
  • Good knowledge and experience in the application of adult learning theories and digital learning principles
  • Experience in facilitating online learning and engagement for large student cohorts, using Zoom, MS teams
  • Knowledge of the VET environment
  • Experience in the assessment of VET competency-based material
  • Experience in LMS platforms - e.g. Moodle
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • CHCDFV001 – Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence (desirable)

On commencement, the Assessor and Student Support role must complete the DV-alert courses and be proficient in the subjects they oversee.
