The National LGBTI Health Alliance is the national peak health organisation in Australia for organisations and individuals that provide health-related programs, services and research focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people (LGBTI) and other sexuality, gender, and bodily diverse people and communities.
The Alliance works in partnership with organisations across Australia to deliver programs across suicide prevention (MindOUT), ageing and aged care (Silver Rainbow) and anonymous, LGBTI peer support and referral (QLife) and in disability (EmployableQ).
Reporting to the Palliative Care Coordinator, this position is responsible for engaging the palliative care sector to support capacity building for General Practitioners and Practice Nurses and LGBTI communities to access and receive quality Palliative Care services.
The core focus of this role is to work within a small team to map and explore GPs’ and Practice Nurses’ current understanding of LGBTI communities’ needs and health comes to ensure safe and effective Palliative Care services are provided to LGBTI communities. It is also expected that a need analysis on LGBTI communities’ will be conducted to ascertain their knowledge of available Palliative Care services and resources.
The two key outcomes of this role are to design and roll out an e-module for GPs and Practice Nurses and to raise awareness for safe Palliative Care services and resources available to LGBTI communities.
