These include advocating for their entitlements, rights and benefits; assisting families through bereavement; and helping people thrive, despite their adversity and loss.

This position is within the Family Support Team within the Beneficiary Programs department. The Family Support team support the families of contemporary veterans of Legacy Club Services (LCS) member clubs. The families of contemporary veterans are younger than earlier generation veterans and the partner/guardian may still be in the workforce (or seeking employment). This role actively engages with specially trained Legatees (volunteers) to collaboratively support these families. This support includes working with newly bereaved partners of veterans and their children; including when the veteran is deemed to have given their health and is therefore unable to adequately support their family during their illness.

Legacy Club Services is looking to employ a Community Service Worker who can go above and beyond when it comes to delivering services. The right candidate will have previous experience within social work, community services or welfare, sound knowledge of the services available, have strong ability to engage with a diverse range of clients, pays attention to details and have a keen interest in the development of strong, resilient children.

This role will involve travel to home visits across the greater Sydney area and as such will require exceptional organisation and time management skills. This role supports people who have experienced significant grief, trauma and loss. The right person for this role will be able to develop rapport as well as be caring and compassionate to support our beneficiaries through an incredibly difficult time of their lives.

This is a part time role, working from home. Some travel will be required to the central office in the CBD and on request across the Greater Sydney Metro area to support the families of contemporary veterans.

To be considered for this role you will need to meet the following criteria:

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work and/ or Psychology field.
  • High level of interpersonal / communication skills.
  • Previous experience using a trauma informed framework.
  • Previous experience with online case management tools.
  • Experience working in Children and Families field.
  • Highly experienced in building relationships with new and existing external service providers.
  • Good assessment skills.
  • Ability to travel across the greater Sydney metropolitan area, with use of own private motor vehicle.
  • Flexibility with hours of work and days of work to accommodate beneficiary availability, when required (some weekend work may be required on occasion).
  • Ability to attend events, camps and holidays on weekends, at nights and during school holidays.

Highly Regarded

  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (with proven intermediate knowledge of Word and PowerPoint formatting and Excel data manipulation).
  • Sound knowledge of services within family support and ex-service organisations.
  • Experience in attending and coordinating children’s camps and activities.

Applicants will be required to undertake a police check, and working with children’s check and must have a current NSW Class C driver’s licence (unrestricted) and a roadworthy motor vehicle which is essential for this position.

You will be provided with a laptop, mobile phone and all essentials necessary to set up your own home office.

All new employees must provide evidence of their previous employment and residency status (current proof of right to work in Australia - unrestricted) and employment will be subject to the provision of these documents.

This is a part time position, working 15 hours per week.
