At the Lost Dogs’ Home we rely on our passionate and dedicated volunteers to help perform the necessary tasks to support the smooth running of the Lost Dogs’ Home. Volunteers are important members of the Lost Dogs’ home community, and we are very excited to be able offer volunteer opportunities once again.

We are currently looking for volunteers to assist our Facilities Manager with the general upkeep of the grounds and to undertake preventative maintenance tasks at our shelter in North Melbourne. We are flexible to accommodate preferences, if you have a strength in maintenance or gardening, please specify which area you would most like to assist in and we would be happy to accept your application.

In this diverse and varied role, some of the things you can expect to be involved in include:

  • Gardening duties such as; hedging, lawn mowing, leaf blowing and collection, weed spraying
  • Ad-hoc facilities and maintenance tasks as required
  • Cob-web removal
  • Assist with accepting deliveries and moving stock around the shelter

Please note that the minimum commitment required for this volunteer role is 1 x 3- 4 hour shift per week.

To be considered for this role, volunteers must be 18 years or over and possess:

  • Positive attitude and strong communication and time management skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team
  • The ability to display initiative and motivation
  • A reasonable level of fitness and the ability and motivation to work in a physically demanding role
