Foster Care Case Worker

Lutheran Care
  • Specialist Care Team - Foster Care Services, Sefton Park

Our Foster Care Service (FCS) is funded through the Department for Child Protection (DCP) to provide family-based foster care services in the SA Metropolitan North, South, West, and East, the Adelaide Hills, the Barossa and the Murray/Mallee regions.

LCC is dedicated to stable placements for children and providing quality carer supports to equip and support families to not only meet the needs of the children and young people in their care but to facilitate environments in which they can thrive.

Due to program growth we are seeking to add an empathetic, innovative and experienced practitioner to our Specialist Care team. Our Specialist Care Program offers trauma and attachment informed specialist family-based care to children and young people with complex needs, who require a higher level of care than generalist foster care. This includes children living with complex medical conditions, disability, learning and communication difficulties, and/or pervasive emotional and behaviour regulation challenges. Through comprehensive training, assessment and intensive support tailored to the child’s care needs, our Specialist Care Program equips carer families with the knowledge and skills to care for children with complex needs, alongside maintaining their own wellbeing.

The Foster Care Case Worker role in the Specialist Care Team involves providing intensive casework support to a caseload of Specialist Care Households. We are a small team from diverse backgrounds and experiences, with a shared passion for strengths-based, trauma-responsive practice. We strive to provide carer families with compassionate, meaningful and empowering support to have their voices heard, their needs met, and achieve best outcomes for children in their care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Case management of carer applicants and/or approved carer households
  • Providing support to Foster Carers by maintaining regular contact with foster carers by telephone, email and home visits
