L’Arche NSW Inc is an ecumenical community of people with and without an intellectual disability, sharing daily life together. L’Arche NSW has assistants and volunteers from diverse backgrounds, that share deeply committed mutual relationships, with people with intellectual disabilities. Assistants and volunteers are committed in supporting and enabling people with disabilities to be more independent in the homes and in the community, thus enhancing their quality of life.

About the role:

The Purpose of this role is to work with individuals with intellectual disabilities. You will provide care and support to people with a disability living in community based group homes. This work requires resilience, self-confidence as well as the capability to assess and manage risks to ensure the safety of people with disabilities.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

To be considered for the above position it is essential that you address in writing the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Disability, Nursing, Welfare, or equivalent.
  • Experience in the disability field including promotion of Positive Family and Community Relationships
  • Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme
  • Diligence with Work Health and Safety
  • High level computer literacy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and a multifunctional community and team environment
  • Deliver a high volume of work load within timeframes and ability to keep to deadlines
  • Demonstrate an ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Current NSW driver’s licence and comprehensively insured motor vehicle
  • Current police clearance and First Aid certificate
  • Ability to support and promote the Mission and Values of L’Arche
  • Be flexible to work after business hours and weekends for community events
