Position Purpose – Targeted Earlier Intervention Program (TEIP)

The Youth Projects Worker role will plan, organise, deliver and evaluate activities and services aimed primarily at young people in the age range of 12 to 25. In order to achieve this, you will actively engage with vulnerable young people, and at times their families and service partners to provide support and advocacy.

This will be through strategies such as, one to one support – ‘care and coordination’, group work and ‘drop in’. This may include coordinating service provision across the sector and at times the region. The role will also entail building stronger social connections through events, activities and the facilitation of support networks. You will lead community development initiatives that aim to improve the lives of young people in our LGA. All opportunities will be taken to ensure your practice is underpinned by youth participation and trauma informed care principles.

We are seeking an individual that is dedicated to working with young men in the delivery of a young mens program that builds;

  2. Further develops life skills
  3. Builds connections
  4. Is highly engaging.

This will be a priority for the role. You will also mentor young people in the development of a community drug action plan within the framework of primary prevention and support the delivery of such activities. You will deliver events and activities for youth week, school holiday program and support initiatives such as Reconciliation and NAIDOC Week for example. You will also provide care and coordination support in line with person centred and trauma informed care principles and practice. This role is diverse and requires an active, creative and thoughtful individual. You will have an understanding of what it means to develop your work based on youth participation principles.

Your way of working will demonstrate a strengths-based approach and this will involve your work with individuals, groups and your day to day professional practice within your team and the organisation.
