Purpose of position:

To work as part of the Kyogle Youth Action team in the delivery of services, activities and events for young people (18 hours per week). The Swoopin’ Season Youth Development Worker will form part of the Youth Village Program and will:

• Work with regional service partners and Swoopin’ Season, the youth advisory committee in the development and delivery of events and activities, managed through a mentoring and training program.
• Assist in the development, delivery and evaluation of a series of skills development workshops (event management) for young people 12 to 25 years of age.
• Sourcing external training providers to deliver event management related topics and support.
• In consultation with young people, develop and deliver a series of events throughout the region.
• Mentor young people to deliver these events with the view to skill building and delivering autonomously.
• Support the management of the Local Drug Action Team and ensure events promote safer partying messages in line with harm reduction principles.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a person who enjoys working with a collaborative and creative team, whose focus is engaging with young people. You will ideally have at least 2 years experience in a community development/youth worker role and understand the complexities of a day in the life of a youth worker in a community setting. This role will include travel throughout the Kyogle LGA.
