ABOUT US

The Katherine Women’s Crisis Centre (KWCC) is passionate and focused, working to support and maximise the safety of women and their children experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence in the greater Katherine region. KWCC team consistently work together to create an environment conducive to healing.

Critical Intervention Outreach Service (CIOS) is one of the programs run by KWCC. The program works with women and their children who have experienced, or are at risk of, Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence. The program aims to prevent further violence and increase safety by delivering holistic support to service users by providing appropriate information, warm referrals and strong advocacy to assist them to make informed decisions in regard to their situations.

ABOUT YOU

As an Outreach Case Worker, you will be required to provide culturally appropriate case management support from a client-centred, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach.

The role requires you to be resilient, practice non-judgement, have empathy, be able to screen and assess risk, have strong advocacy skills, and walk alongside the women.

Due to the inherent nature of the Outreach Worker duties it is necessary that the position be filled by a female.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. A Certificate III in Community Services or at least 2 years of experience in the field of community services
  2. Skills in case management, advocacy and networking
  3. Sound knowledge and understanding of domestic and family violence, including collusion. Knowledge of the impact of family violence on adult victims, children, young people and communities
  4. Experience working with people from Indigenous and CALD cultures.
  5. Strong administrative and time management skills. Ability to work well under pressure, independently and as part of a team
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated experience in liaising with a wide range of internal and external client in a professional and ethical manner. Ability and willingness to seek advice from appropriate colleagues when required.
  7. Demonstrated experience and understanding of the need for continuation of both personal and professional development
  8. Computer Literacy
  9. Staff are required to have current and satisfactory:
  • Criminal History Check
  • Ochre card (Working with Children Clearance)
  • Current Drivers Licence
