ABOUT US

The Katherine Women’s Crisis Centre (KWCC) is passionate and focused, working to support and maximise the safety of women and their children experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence in the greater Katherine region. KWCC team consistently work together, to create an environment conducive to healing.

KWCC is a non-profit organisation which operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week, providing supported crisis accommodation to women & their children escaping domestic/family violence.

KWCC provides case management to the family in a way which enriches women’s lives by supporting their individual choices, and prides itself on providing a safe, confidential environment for support, advocacy and assistance at a time when women need it the most.

KWCC offer professional development opportunities, award wages, four weeks annual Leave, 10 days sick leave and salary packaging.

ABOUT YOU

As a Crisis Accommodation Support Worker, you will be required to provide culturally appropriate case management support from a client-centred, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach.

The role requires you to be resilient, practice non-judgement, have empathy, be able to screen and assess risk, have strong advocacy skills and walk alongside the women.

Due to the inherent nature of the Crisis Accommodation Support Worker duties it is necessary that the position be filled by a female.

Please note: The Crisis Accommodation Centre run on a 24 hour/7 day roster model so successful candidates will need to be available to work shifts across weekdays, weekends and Public Holidays.

Key Selection Criteria

  • A Certificate III in Community Services or at least 2 years of experience in the field of community services
  • Skills in case management, advocacy and networking
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of domestic and family violence, including collusion. Knowledge of the impact of family violence on adult victims, children, young people and communities
  • Experience working with people from Indigenous and CALD cultures
  • Strong administrative and time management skills. Ability to work well under pressure, independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated experience in liaising with a wide range of internal and external client in a professional and ethical manner. Ability and willingness to seek advice from appropriate colleagues when required
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of the need for continuation of both personal and professional development
  • Computer Literacy
  • Staff are required to have current and satisfactory:
  • Criminal History Check
  • Ochre card (Working with Children Clearance)
  • Current Drivers Licence
