About the Opportunity….

The Accountant is an integral member of the Management Team and works closely with the Board, CEO and Managers to deliver the company strategy and mission.

This payrate will be determined by your level of skills and experience.

There are a wide range of interesting technical challenges to get your teeth into including managing budgets, invoicing, payroll, structuring, tax accounting, compliance and corporate governance.

There will be a strong handover period with the long-term Accountant, giving a high performer the chance to maximise the learning opportunity.

About the job...

The Accountant is responsible for the oversight of the financial operations of the company. Duties will include data entry of all functions and managing payroll, organising financial accounts, the development of financial strategies, metrics tied to those strategies, the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets, managing budgets, reporting accurate financial results and management of cash flow and capital requirements.

The role is currently part time, but if you require full time and have the appropriate skills (to assist in HR, high level admin, marketing, ICT, or project work), we can discuss this as an option.

About you...

You will be somebody who is comfortable with all facets of financial and corporate accounting, with a particularly strong skillset in excel, MYOB, monthly financial reporting and the preparation of annual accounts. In addition to this you will ideally have the following:

  • A Bachelor of Accounting, Finance or other related discipline
  • PNA/CA/CPA Australia qualification with ongoing membership
  • Exposure and/or experience in the Not-for-Profit sector or the ability to demonstrate your understanding and passion for the sector

You will be a skilled leader with exceptional communication skills and strong commercial acumen.

Duties:

  • Provide leadership, direction and management to the Board and Management Team
  • Provide financial strategic recommendations to the Board and Management Team
  • Provide advice on long term business and financial planning
  • Manage processes for financial forecasting, including preparation of the annual budget and monitoring progress against that budget
  • Oversee the preparation of all financial reporting including management accounts, annual consolidated financial statements, the annual report and syndicate financial statements
  • Oversee the preparation of all tax returns including income tax returns, business activity statements and payroll tax returns
  • Assist with undertaking feasibilities on new project acquisitions including the preparation of cash flows, calculation of rates of return and determination of capital requirements as well as the provision of advice on optimum financial and legal structures
  • Manage cash flow and capital requirements
  • Complete grant acquittals
  • Manage and action daily banking of the business
  • Data entry function for Creditors/Payroll/Debtors/Journals etc - this is a ‘hands-on’ role

About the pay...

  • A remuneration package consistent with the seniority of this role and experience of the candidate will be offered.
  • Salary range is $80,000-110,000 FTE plus 9.5% superannuation (pro-rata for part-time);
  • In addition, as a registered Not for Profit/Charity, we offer excellent salary packaging options through CBB which can significantly increase your take home pay.
