Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation (AKKF) supports young people aged between 8-18 years of age, living in families affected by mental illness. We make a difference in the lives of the young people we support through our age-based early intervention programs.

The opportunity:

If you enjoy working with young people in this sector, then this role is for you. Reporting to the Head of Operations and working across our full program offering, this full-time role is responsible for the coordination and delivery of allocated programs (face-to-face and virtual) to our young people and families. Responsibilities include pre-program site inspections, pre-program debriefs, program logistics, program safety and first aid, on program coordination and engagement of our volunteers, program administration and reporting.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.
  • Have demonstrated experience in a similar position, delivering recreational programs.
  • The ability to engage and support groups of young people aged between 8-18.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.
  • Have a can-do, adaptable, resilient, positive, proactive attitude and approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certificate III in Community Services or other associated discipline (desirable).
  • Nationally Accredited First Aid Certificate.
  • Full drivers licences and access to own car.

Our programs are held off-site, in various locations across all mainland states/territories of Australia, meeting the need where our young people are located. To perform the full extent of this role, you must be able and willing, to regularly travel within ACT and interstate.

As programs operate outside usual business hours, your ability to work outside usual business hours is essential to your success in this role. Our camps run from Friday to Sunday including overnight, our Activity Days and virtual offering run afternoons, evenings and weekends, during school holidays and occasionally during the day.
