This position is a dedicated role to support the implementation of the Two-Way Science Initiative in the Kimberley region, funded by NIAA and in collaboration with the Department of Education.
Two-Way Science provides an opportunity for all students to learn about science from the world’s oldest continuing cultures, to strengthen Aboriginal student’s wellbeing and engagement and to build respect for Aboriginal histories, cultures, people, knowledges and experiences amongst school staff and students.
The Two-Way Science Coordinator will be responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of the KLC’s Two-Way Science Initiative, working collaboratively with the Department of Educations Two-Way Science Consultants in the Curriculum Support unit.
The Two-Way Science Initiative will improve STEM learning outcomes through community engagement and intergenerational transmission of Indigenous knowledge. It will build education partnerships between communities, rangers and schools; leading to increased capacity of Aboriginal families and communities to direct and deliver culturally responsive education programs with education providers.
The position will be responsible for managing the delivery of the program as well as reporting and evaluation.
We are looking for an Aboriginal person, with strong ties to the community and a passion for working with children, families and traditional owners in a cultural based setting.
You will be confident in your knowledge of culture and passionate about drawing the connection from traditional ecological science to western science and the education curriculum.
You will be a great communicator, having the ability to code-switch between all stakeholders. You will have a passion for working with young people and improving education outcomes.

This position is classed at a KLC Level 6.0. Superannuation of 10% and additional salary allowances offered include district allowance, rental assistance where applicable, salary sacrificing options and 5 weeks annual leave.
