Expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified candidates interested in a career opportunity in the position of Community Liaison Officer. The position is for 2 days a week for a period of 12 months initially, with the possibility of an extension until December 2022.

Job Description:

Kings Langley Public School is committed to enhancing home and school partnerships. The role requires the successful applicant to enhance partnerships between the school, parents/caregivers and the school community through the implementation of the National Community Hubs Program, please visit www.communityhubs.org.au for more information. The position is for 2 days per week with allocated days negotiated with the school.

Statement of duties:

Support/encourage parents to participate in hub, school and community activities by linking them to appropriate information, programs and services

Organise activities, programs or events in response to family needs and interests consistent with the objectives of the National Community Hub Program

Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with Community Hub Leaders, school staff, community members, services, funding agencies and early years' networks operating at the local level to support the needs of families

Create opportunities to develop community programs that build the capacity of parents/caregivers and families to participate in the development and life of the Community Hub and general community

Develop and implement a Hub work plan in line with school priorities, contractual obligations and program outcomes; and associated administration and periodical reporting tasks, as required

Selection Criteria:

  • Qualifications and/or experience in education, community development or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience working in a school setting or a community-related field
  • Knowledge of early childhood and community development principles
  • Ability to demonstrate cultural awareness, mindfulness and empathy when communicating with families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with the community, school staff, stakeholders and local networks
  • Effective organisational skills and the ability to prioritise own work.
