about us

Shoalhaven River College is a small alternative high school which commenced operation in Bomaderry in 2019. Shoalhaven River College is auspiced by Kiama Community College Ltd., a successful not for profit adult education provider, operating in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions for more than 30 years.

The school presently has 50 students across years 9-12. This low/no fee school will cater for students, that for various reasons, have not successfully engaged, or felt comfortable, in a mainstream setting. The school is not a behavioural school and has its own dedicated premise.

We are currently seeking a secondary Stage 5 and 6 Maths teacher who will be responsible for delivering a NESA curriculum which enables students to attain their ROSA and HSC. Teachers are also responsible for nurturing the culture and values of Shoalhaven River College within the student body and school environment.

The successful candidates will possess

  • A passion for alternative education and student re-engagement within this environment.
  • An ability to contribute to the vision and articulated culture and values of the school.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build productive relationships and engage with students who may experience barriers in learning and engagement.
  • A desire to contribute to students’ achievement academically, socially and personally.
  • An innovative approach to student achievement whilst complying with NESA’s regulatory frameworks and required policies and procedures.
