About the role

As the Assistant Director you will manage, develop, promote and oversee the delivery of the range of Key Assets Services and Fostering Services for the State of Queensland. You will set exemplary standards of behaviour and performance, promoting the purpose & pledges of Key Assets and work collaboratively with respect and integrity.

Key Components of the role:

  • Assist with the day-to-day management, development and operations of Key Assets QLD services.
  • Deputise, externally, and within Key Assets QLD and Key Assets Australia, for the Director as required.
  • Represent Key Assets at external forums, and meetings, including Department of Family & Community Services contract and commissioning meetings.
  • Support the Key Assets QLD managers in managing, developing, and providing leadership to the Key Assets QLD teams in line with the company’s vision, mission, purpose and pledges. Act as coach, mentor and advisor to senior staff within the agency.
  • Take a lead in actively promoting a positive culture within Key Assets QLD, encouraging honest, respectful communication, engagement and openness.
  • Ensure the safe protection of children and young people, and promotion of their welfare is given absolute priority in all activities. Ensure that critical incidents and allegations are recorded, investigated and acted upon appropriately and in keeping with Key Assets and the Department of Family & Community Services procedures.
  • Effectively manage Key Assets staff, promoting an inclusive and collaborative culture, all while modelling the Key Assets purpose & pledges
  • Ensuring effective relationships are maintained with all key stakeholders and services are in line with their needs
  • Report to Key Assets Senior Leaders and present as required at Key Assets Executive Leadership Team Meeting (ELT)

Experience and Skills Required

  • You will hold a degree level qualification in Social Work (other equivalent qualifications in related disciplines may be considered)
  • Hold a qualification relating to management and/or business
  • You will show extensive experience of working as a manager and practitioner in a social work related setting with young people experiencing significant social disadvantage
  • Possess an excellent working knowledge of relevant legislation arising from the various Child Protection Legislation and Government initiatives and Agendas across the State of QLD and you will possess excellent knowledge of Child Protection Procedures
  • You will also have considerable experience of working at a management level in a target, outcomes driven service delivery environment
