Study Support Program Coordinator - Homework Club

Kensington Neighbourhood House

Kensington Neighbourhood House (KNH) offers a range of recreational, social, educational and vocational classes as well as morning childcare. Our programs operate according to the principles of community development, including empowerment and support to become self-determining, working to establish a just society, and building a harmonious community which respects diverse backgrounds.

The Study Support program provides learning support to school students (Prep – Year 12) who live in the Kensington public housing estate. The program assists in developing young people’s confidence and helping them socially and academically to participate in school in a more meaningful way. In particular, the program focuses on literacy, numeracy, homework support and study skills.

The Study Support Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning, operation and evaluation of the Study Support Program. They will recruit, screen, induct and supervise volunteers, oversee the delivery of the program and conduct monitoring and evaluation processes.

This is a great role for anyone who is passionate about education and community development. The Study Support Program is well established and highly valued by our community. Over 50 children currently attend, supported by 20+ volunteers. Policies and procedures for volunteer and program management are in place and support is available from other KNH staff. We are seeking someone who would like to make this program their own, and become the "go to person" for students, parents and volunteers.

This is initially a 12 month appointment, however there is potential to extend the role for the right person.

Please read the attached Position Description for full details of the role.
