Kedesh Rehabilitation Services (KRS) is currently seeking new board members to join our volunteer Board of Directors.

ABOUT KRS

Kedesh Rehabilitation Services (KRS) is a non-government, non-profit, charitable community-based organisation that receives funding and support through a number of different sources including both State and Federal Government bodies.

KRS has two residential facilities, one in Berkeley (18 bed facility) and one in Mona Vale (10 bed facility). The facilities support residential and day programme clients who are seeking assistance with substance misuse and mental health issues.

Our vision is to lead in the provision of client centred, flexible Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) care, and empowering clients with their own health & well-being.

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for board members who bring a range of expertise, ideally specialising in one or more of the specific skills listed below:

  • Strategic expertise - the ability to review the organisation’s strategy through constructive questioning and suggestion and contribute to the effective decision making of the board.
  • Finance & accounting skills - the ability to read and comprehend accounts and financial material presented to the board, financial reporting requirements and some understanding of corporate finance.
  • Legal & risk management skills - the board’s responsibility involves overseeing compliance with numerous laws as well as understanding the individual director’s legal duties and responsibilities. We are also looking for experience in managing areas of major risk.
  • Governance experience - experience serving on other boards, or in running an organisation with a strong relationship with its board.
  • Industry knowledge – experience in similar organisations (private and/or public service provision) would be useful.

COMMITTMENT

Board meetings occur monthly and are held either face-to-face in Wollongong or on-line via Zoom. Directors are appointed for a three-year term but may seek re-election.

The role is voluntary and carries no remuneration.

ATTRIBUTES

  • Commitment to the values, mission, and vision of KRS.
  • Able to work as a team player and work effectively with others.
  • Understand the legal duties and responsibilities of a Company Director as set out in the Corporations Act.
  • Professional qualifications in your area of expertise (e.g. CA, CPA or equivalent).
  • Experience in assessing financial viability, and preparation and oversight of budgets.
  • Desirable - previous Board experience, and experience in AOD and mental health.
