As the General Practice Bowel Cancer Educator you will report to the Cancer Education and Screening Manager and liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to implement an education and support program delivered directly to General Practices. This program works to increase staff and patient knowledge about the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP) and assists practices implement system improvements with the aim of increased participation in the NBCSP.

Your other main responsibilities will be:

  • Coordinate project activities and ensure they are delivered as scheduled
  • Undertake General Practice visits including the delivery of face-to-face education
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with General Practice stakeholders
  • Prepare written reports and articles, including progress reports, evaluation reports and newsletter articles
  • Review, implement and evaluate innovative approaches to the project

Who are you?

To be successful in this role you will have the following key attributes:

  • A tertiary qualification in Health or Allied Health, desirably registered with the Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency or equivalent body
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in project management, implementation, and evaluation, within the health sector
  • A high degree of understanding of the primary health sector at a practical level
  • Knowledge of cancer screening programs is highly desirable
  • Well-developed communication skills including the ability to present information simply and clearly in written and verbal forms to a wide range of health professionals, in particular general practice
  • High level organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills including the ability to develop, maintain and lead strong collaborative partnerships with individuals and groups
  • Proven ability to develop and manage delivery of innovative education and training strategies in the primary health and community health sector
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and demonstrate a high level of initiative

Based in Subiaco, this position is a part-time fixed-term until 30th June 2021 with a minimum FTE of 0.6 and a maximum of FTE of 0.7.
