Legal Outreach & Education Officer - East Kimberley

Kimberley Community Legal Services

Kimberley Community Legal Services (KCLS) provides a range of legal and family support services across the Kimberley. We operate from offices in Kununurra and Broome, with regular outreach to all major towns and many remote Aboriginal communities across the region.

We help people understand and exercise their rights. We help people keep their homes, keep their families together, keep safe from violence, and ensure their voice is heard and their rights protected with government agencies and private businesses.

Our Outreach & Education Officers do critical work helping people understand the Western legal system and how it affects them, how they can get help, and how to deal with difficult problems like housing, family violence, and debt. In this role, you would be developing educational resources, planning and delivering workshops and other events, helping our staff connect well in remote communities, and working in partnership with colleagues in other Aboriginal organisations.

This is a full-time permanent role, based in Kununurra with regular travel across the East Kimberley. It is an Aboriginal-identified role. It is only open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates.

KCLS offers a generous package of benefits, including full salary packaging, 5 weeks' annual leave, flexible working arrangements and a salary competitive with similar roles in government and the not-for-profit sector.

Questions about the role or the application process can be directed to Chuck Berger, KCLS Manager on 0417 447 599.
