Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation (KBHAC) is a Stolen Generations survivor led Aboriginal community organisation. Our vision is to improve the social, emotional, cultural and spiritual well-being of KBH survivors and their families in a meaningful way.

KBHAC is committed to empowering, positive, trauma informed, healthy peer support models that address the rebuilding and strengthening of identity and family structures and enable greater inclusion in community life. KBHAC provides services specific to KBH survivors and their families and also supports the broader community through its Ability Links NSW and NDIS Registered Services.

In September 2019, KBHAC launched a range of NDIS-approved programs and services including ‘Support Coordination’, ‘Lived Experience Mentoring’, ‘Community participation’, ‘Daily routines’ and ‘Life stage transitions’.

This role will focus on supporting the ‘Community participation’, ‘Daily Routines’ and ‘Life Stage Transitions’ programs.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working with participants, focusing on their wellbeing
  • Supporting participants to improve their independence by assisting with living skills, transport, social activities, medication and personal care, as well as other support as required
  • Developing and maintain professional relationships and networks with participants, families, caregivers and key stakeholders
  • Seek out innovative ways to enhance a participant’s journey
  • Reconnecting with families and Indigenous communities
  • Participating and engaging in activities and outings in the community and building relationships and connections in the community
  • Demonstrated experience using a Customer Relationship Management system to maintain accurate and up to date records
  • Managing some challenging behaviours

To be considered for this role, you will:

  • Be Aboriginal
  • Have a minimum Cert III or IV in Disability or equivalent accreditation in social science/community services
  • Be available to work across a rotating roster
  • Hold a valid NSW Drivers C class licence, with fully comprehension insured vehicle
  • Hold a valid Australian Federal Police Check, WWCC and first aid certificate
