About the Role

As part of a national network of health professionals, the MatchWorks Physical Health & Wellbeing Consultant role involves providing health & wellbeing support to job seekers accessing jobactive and Disability Employment Services (DES).

This is a newly created role for a physical health specialist to join our existing team of mental health professionals to provide holistic approach to assist our clients. The role would require the successful candidate to support the initial planning and scoping for the role.

This is a full-time or part-time (4 days) role which will cover employment regions in WA. The role is flexible and can be in any of the geographical regions, such as, South or North Perth. The role requires the successful candidate to be flexible with travel.

Reporting to the Senior Health & Wellbeing Consultant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting physical work capacity health assessments and the provision of client focused short term interventions;
  • Delivering psycho-educational, work conditioning and strengthening group based programs;
  • Supporting operational staff with managing their clients with health and/or wellbeing concerns;
  • Providing return-to-work guidance and offering in-work support as required;
  • Building relationships with key stakeholders that contribute to the successful delivery of the service.

As an Exercise Physiologist/ Physical Health & Wellbeing Consultant, you will:

  • Work with individuals on a one-to-one basis and in groups to support those experiencing physical health and or wellbeing concerns;
  • Complete assessments such as functional capacity testing, ergonomics and workplace visits where appropriate;
  • Provide psychoeducation to clients on their health condition and use short term solution focused evidence based and best practice interventions to assist them to better manage their health and wellbeing;
  • Offer return-to-work advice and guidance for both clients and Employment Consultants;
  • Refer and liaise with other health professionals, GP’s and local community organisations as required;
  • Assess and provide clients with practical techniques that enable them to understand and manage their conditions on a long-term basis once in employment;
  • Ensure service delivery meets the quality standards outlined in our clinical governance framework;
  • Be a champion for health and wellbeing services in your area.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will either be fully registered as a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or will be fully registered as an Exercise Physiologist with ESSA (Exercise and Sports Science Australia).
