Kara House is a specialist family violence service that provides crisis accommodation, transitional housing and outreach support to women and children experiencing family violence.

We are currently seeking an experienced Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to join our small team as a senior support to the Team Leader and Manager.

AS A SENIOR SPECIALIST FAMILY VIOLENCE PRACTITIONER AT KARA HOUSE YOU WILL:

• Work directly with women and children experiencing family violence, undertaking risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy and holistic case planning within a crisis framework
• Provide support to the Team Leader and Manager in the identification, evaluation and reporting on the quality of organisational processes

The position is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension.

This position is suitable for an applicant with a minimum of 5 years’ experience providing Family Violence support. The position offers the opportunity to gain leadership skills while utilising your ability to critically review and report on programs and services. Current or past supervisory experience will be well regarded.

All offers of employment are subject to a six-month probationary period.

Prior to appointment the applicant will be required to attest to their capacity to undertake the physical aspects of the position, including any pre-existing injuries or disease which may affect their ability to perform the required role.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

• A tertiary qualification in Social Work or related discipline is essential
• Working with Children Check
• National Police Check (international police check if required)
• Eligibility to work in Australia
• Current unrestricted Victorian driver’s license with clean driving record
