Hands-on Rural Salesperson - Kandanga

Kandanga Farm Store

Have you have had some time to re-think the world recently, and what your part is in it? Do you want to start in an area of agriculture on a different path to the rest? Do you believe in locals supporting locals and are you prepared to learn and grow in a dynamic business as part of an ever-evolving food-loving region?

At the Kandanga Farm Store we have a unique approach to rural supply and an unapologetic, unwavering focus on helping farmer customers produce food and fibre (without poisons) while regenerating the planet.

We now need a solutions-driven, self-motivated commercial salesperson to join our small team sharing our passion and focusing on the daily challenge of better servicing a rapidly-expanding, farming customer base. Just when you thought that sounded easy; having a Commercial Kitchen & Café under the same roof also means you need to assist showcasing what your farmer customers produce to our second group of clients- hungry locals and travelling foodies. For the right person, joining our team could just be your chance to make a difference – from Farm to Fork.

This is a full-time position that requires you to be a local after the completion of the 3-month trial period.

DO YOU (ESSENTIALLY):

  1. Have a track record for completion? This could be tertiary qualifications in a field of agriculture, science, hospitality, business or a trade qualification? (Summarise & list details in Resume).
  2. Come from a rural background &/or have networks in regional Australia? (Please expand).
  3. Demonstrate an interest in regenerative agriculture you can show by the courses you’ve completed and the practical experience you have? (Please be specific and give references).
  4. Demonstrate a passion for food production in Organics or other “non-conventional” farming techniques? (Please share what “floats your boat” and any additional training you’ve done).
  5. Adapt quickly to change while still having the ability to be accountable in a small business environment and stick to the overall game plan? (Give an example).
  6. Want to live locally in a quiet yet diverse rural location under 45 mins from the beach, two hours from the city and with the whole of rural Qld on the doorstep? (Locals dealing with locals).

EVEN BETTER (DESIRABLE):

  • Forklift Licence
  • RSA and/or Hospitality Experience
  • Current HR drivers licence
  • Rural Sales Experience for a minimum 2 years based in regional Australia (Examples Include: Rural Store or Stock & Station Agency, Stock lick company, Agronomy business, Steel Supplier or Irrigation Shop or similar)
  • Experience compiling quotes or writing business development proposals
  • Strong computer literacy with regard to organisational and sales skills- Tower POS, Trello, Mailchimp, Xero, Microsoft Suite, Social Media Platforms, Qld. Globe/Google Earth.
  • Self Motivation
  • Ability to work autonomously

If you don’t have everything here but have an over-riding passion that’s telling you to “have a crack” – then perhaps you should.

In writing your application, as well as addressing the ESSENTIAL and DESIRABLE selection criteria in full, please tell us YOUR “WHY” in a couple of concise paragraphs. Of course tell us how you’d fit into the role, tell us what you know about our business (if anything) and the things you’d do to improve the brand.
