With its mission of ‘creating new possibilities in people’s lives’, The Junction Works focuses on delivering creative and enriching community, youth, children’s and disability services that are designed to improve the lives of some of the community’s most vulnerable people.

The Junction Works’ Community Living Service provides supported accommodation in a community setting to people with a disability. The service provides a range of supports that are flexible and responsive to the changing needs of our residents. Our aim is to enable our residents to live a quality life in their community, a life that is as independent as possible and that is meaningful to the person.

The Role

With the continued growth of our Community Living team, The Junction Works now has multiple opportunities for dedicated and experienced Support Workers to join the team.

These roles, reporting to the Community Living Program Coordinator, are pivotal to the continued growth and development of our residents. You will provide a positive, strengths based and person centred service to enable individuals with disabilities to reach their own potential and become integrated into their community.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Engage with residents, their families, carers, advocates and other specialised support staff to develop programs and supports aimed at achieving each resident’s goals and aspirations.
  • Perform the role of key worker as required and implement the clients NDIS goals
  • Provide behaviour and communication support to residents to encourage development of personal, community and social relationships.
  • Promote the capacity of residents to make decisions and take reasonable risks in line with their abilities.

Please Note: These roles work on a 7 day roster that will include weekend, evening and overnight shifts.

Our ideal candidate will have

  • An open and creative mindset to the position - new and innovative ideas are a must
  • Strong organisational skills and a collaborative team based approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Emotional intelligence, resilience and drive, with the capability of working in isolation
  • A qualification in disability / community services
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working within a disability/supported accommodation environment

These roles are Full Time and must have full availability across the 7 day roster. This will mean availability for shifts starting as early as 5:00am, finishing as late as 11:00pm and must include full availability for weekend and overnight shifts. Successful candidates will work 38 hours a week across a rotating roster.
