About the role

We are currently seeking a Permanent, Full Time experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our close-knit team in Wodonga and help shape the future of our organisation. Wodonga is a regional city in North East Victoria and is located approximately halfway between Melbourne and Sydney, offering a relaxed regional lifestyle. We offer a competitive remuneration package inclusive of salary packaging and 6 weeks annual leave.

This position is part of the Executive Management Team and will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors and leadership team to provide the delivery of strategic and operational financial management, reporting and analysis to underpin effective long-term business planning. This is inclusive of forecasting; budgeting; performance measurement, monitoring and benchmarking; and resource management. This position provides leadership to the Finance team consisting of the organisations Accountants, Payroll, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable as well as oversight of the organisational assets and IT strategies.

Tasks & responsibilities

Provide leadership, direction and management to the finance and accounting team

  • Provide financial strategic recommendations to the CEO, Board of Directors, Executive and Senior Management Teams
  • Provide advice on long term business and financial planning
  • Manage processes for financial forecasting, including preparation of the annual budget and monitoring progress against that budget
  • Oversee the preparation of all financial reporting including management accounts, annual consolidated financial statements, the annual report and departmental financial statements
  • Oversee the preparation of all tax returns including income tax returns, business activity statements and payroll tax returns
  • Assist with undertaking feasibilities on new project acquisitions and investments including the preparation of cash flows, calculation of rates of return and determination of capital requirements as well as the provision of advice on optimum financial and legal structures
  • Manage cash flow and capital requirements including securing the necessary project finance from the company's financiers
  • Establish, develop and maintain positive working relationships with the Board, Executive, Shareholders, Investors, Financiers, Auditors and other stakeholders
  • Oversee and maintain the company's assets and IT systems and make recommendations on improvements and enhancements

Skills and experience

  • You will be CA/CPA qualified with demonstrated work experience in a similar 'hands on' financial accounting position.
  • Candidates who have previous experience working in a Not for Profit organisation will be highly regarded
  • Proven aptitude in balancing competing priorities and ability to manage your time effectively
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to deal with queries from a range of stakeholders
  • Proven track record at an executive and leadership level in financial management and control, financial project management and delivery of sustained financial performance
  • Strong executive leadership, strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Strong financial skills and knowledge
  • A willingness to coach and engage a team to support career progression and deliver the best outcomes
  • Results orientated with a dedication to continually driving high levels of performance to meet and exceed goals
