The Opportunity: 

Junction is looking to welcome Therapeutic Support Workers to their northern or southern Adelaide houses, focusing on children and young people within the houses with a view to improving their confidence and self-esteem through the promotion of positive attitudes and lifestyle choices. 

You will be responsible for providing a safe and secure environment, maintaining a ‘home-like’ feeling and assisting children and young people to develop social and living skills. You will also plan daily activities and undertake general housekeeping duties, working closely with clients while also interacting with government and non-government agencies as well as members of the community to ensure clients continue to have access and support for activities and other services.

Some of your daily duties will include:  

  • Facilitating client participation in a range of educational and recreational activities to enhance their physical, social, emotional and intellectual development
  • Producing accurate case notes, interaction records, log entries, Client Incident Reports, and plans
  • Maintaining the property in a clean and hygienic manner
  • Planning and preparing meals for children and young people in line with healthy food choices and safe food-handling requirements

About you:

  • As a minimum, successful completion of a Certificate IV in Youth Work (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience in responding to trauma related behaviours
  • The ability to work across 24/7 roster and undertake passive (sleepover) and active night shifts
  • Sound interpersonal skills to effectively engage and establish rapport with clients, staff and external agencies

You will need to:

  • Complete our online application process
  • Undergo pre-employment testing as part of the recruitment process which will include psychological assessments
  • Provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Provide a current Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Provide a current Safe Environments Certificate
  • Hold a current unencumbered Australian driver’s licence and be willing to drive
  • Be prepared to undertake Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training within 6 months of commencing with Junction
